Carolyn Gugerty Hrdlick RN, BSN, MBA, Owner

I was born and raised in Baltimore. I began assisting elderly people when I was 15 and did not realize that I was primarily being hired as a companion. My first client, Matilda Bramble was one of the first women lawyers in Baltimore. I worked for her for 10 years. I may add that she was absolutely one of the most content and amazing women I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and helping!

How I helped her changed as she aged: Matilda died in 1999, at her funeral her son, said, “You allowed my mother to stay in her home much longer than she could have without you.” That compliment ran through my mind as I was ready to return to the workforce after having 3 children.

I graduated from Georgetown University in 1988 with a BSN in nursing and worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital on an adult medical floor for 18 months, subsequently transfering to a Pediatric Unit for 6 years. I obtained an MBA from John Hopkins University in 1997. I worked in the Pediatric Nursing Office for 8 years then took several years off to start my family.

In 2010, I officially opened Assisting You in Your Home LLC to reach my personal goal of allowing many people to stay in their homes as long as they safely can. We assist seniors, young families, and those who live alone, who have had surgery, multiple young children, and those experiencing a medical crisis to stay in their home at a time when it is more challenging to be in their home.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my 3 young adults and husband, especially in Nantucket. I also enjoy cooking, baking, playing tennis, skiing, volunteering, reading, eating ice cream and watching the sunset over the water.

Donna McCann RN, BSN, MPH, Nursing Manager

I received my nursing degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore and my Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. For much of my nursing career, I have worked as a public health nurse for the Baltimore County Department of Health and John HopKins University. Prior to joining the AYIYH team in 2022, I worked in Home Care for 5 years.

I am married, have been blessed with 3 children, and in my “spare time”, I enjoy reading, hiking and traveling!

Teresa Logue, Office Manager

I have been the Bookkeeper/Office Manager for AYIYH since February 2018. Having been a caregiver for my mother for many years, I can understand and appreciate what is involved in the services we provide.

Even though I work remotely, managing the payroll and billing allows me interaction with the caregivers and clients so I can stay connected to the daily activities. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing pickleball, and spending time with family and friends.
