Yes, 2 hours for clients within a 10 mile radius of a Caregiver. 4 hours for clients more than 10 miles from a Caregiver.
Is there a daily charge for clients that live further away?
No, if you live within 20 miles roundtrip of your Caregiver.
Yes, if you live more than 20 miles roundtrip from your caregiver the charge is .65.5/mile for each mile over 20 miles. We are not covered by Medicare. Depending on the type of Caregiver, RN or not we may be covered by Long Term Health Insurance.
If I need my Caregiver to buy me groceries, pick up prescriptions etc. How is that handled?
You provide your Caregiver with cash, check or a credit card to pay for the items you need, on the day you need them to purchase the items. Some clients will give a Caregiver $20 at the end of a visit and ask that the Caregiver brings them milk, eggs and cheese on their next visit. The Caregiver then provides the client with the items, receipt and change on the next visit.
Is there a contract I need to sign?
Yes, the contract merely states that you will be charged a specific amount and to please pay it. It does NOT include a specific number of hours per week for a specific amount of time. We feel strongly that if our services are not beneficial to you, you may cancel the help of your Caregiver and try a different Caregiver if you like or discontinue your service completely. We REALLY want to improve the quality of your life and your loved ones!
Do I need to have the same number of hours of help each week?
No, we fully understand that when you are helping people, things change and what you need changes. One week you may need 12 hours of help and another week you may need 6. If you enjoy the consistency of a particular Caregiver having a set number of hours per weeks allows you the opportunity to have the same Caregiver more so then if the number of hours you need changes considerably every week. We also understand that crisis situations arise and sometimes you need a lot of help for 1-2 weeks.
What if I need to cancel a Caregiver visit?
If you do not give us 24 hours notice you will be charged for the scheduled hours. Often Caregivers are able to reschedule, in which case you would receive the help on a different day and not be penalized.
What happens if a Caregiver has a Personal Emergency?
The Caregiver will contact you when they have a conflict or an emergency that may interfere with getting to you on time or at all.
You may choose to reschedule for another day and time.
The Caregiver will then contact other Caregivers as a backup plan.
The Caregiver will call to verify the backup plan and let you know who will be coming.
What happens if there is Inclement Weather?
Every attempt is made by your Caregiver to come or come a little later that day if possible.
How do I schedule the hours of help I need?
Once we have found the right Caregiver for you, you/your family schedule your hours directly with the Caregiver. If you need to change the hours you call the Caregiver directly. In situations where the hours needed are 5 days a week or more and there are multiple Caregivers, contact Donna McCann (434) 917-4663 Cell.
Do you ever do overnight or multiple days of help?
Yes, in these situations it is not always possible to have the same Caregiver depending on the length of time the help is needed.
